Heritage Trees

Definition

A heritage tree in Mountain View is any tree that has a trunk with a circumference of 48" or more measured 54" above the natural grade.

Three species, oak, redwood, and cedar, are considered heritage if they have a circumference of 12" measured at the same height above the natural grade.

To our knowledge, the largest tree in Mountain View is the Bay Laurel next to the athletic field at St. Francis High School, measuring 340" around!
